Miva Open University is an education company building a new kind of university targeted at the African region. Miva is a Pan- African Distance e-Learning University that is built on a couple of beliefs: Firstly, we believe that the traditional brick and mortar approach to tertiary education is no longer a viable option in serving learners on the African continent. This approach will not provide the capacity and efficacy for the people of the region.

We are building a university experience that can leverage excellent academic talent (wherever it is to be found) and digital technologies to create a new, fresh, more efficacious and more accessible tertiary experience. Overall Function

• As the Content Strategist / Storyteller, you will be responsible for developing and executing a content strategy that effectively communicates our brand story, engages our audience, and supports our marketing efforts.
• You will create a variety of content types, including articles, blog posts, videos, social media content, and more, while maintaining a consistent brand voice and messaging.

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with our brand's voice, mission, and objectives.
• Identify key topics, themes, and content formats that resonate with our target audience.
• Craft compelling and relatable narratives that effectively communicate our brand's value proposition, mission, and impact.
• Weave stories that engage and resonate with educators, learners, and other stakeholders.
• Write and edit high-quality content, including blog posts, articles, website copy, social media posts, and more.
• Collaborate with designers, videographers, and other team members to create visually appealing and engaging content.
• Develop educational resources such as e-books, whitepapers, webinars, and tutorials that provide value to our target audience.
• Ensure accuracy and credibility of educational content.
• Plan and create content for social media channels, fostering engagement and community building.
• Engage with the audience through thoughtful responses and conversations.
• Optimize content for search engines (SEO) to improve discoverability and organic traffic.
• Monitor content performance using analytics tools and adjust strategies based on insights.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, design, and product to ensure content aligns with overall brand messaging and product launches.

Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
• Proven experience in content creation, storytelling, or content strategy, preferably within the EdTech or technology industry.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in clear and engaging language.
• Strong storytelling skills with the ability to connect emotionally with the audience.
• Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices, and analytics tools.
• Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative content ideas.
• Understanding of educational concepts and trends in the EdTech space.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
