Job Title: Women Lead in Emergencies (WLiE) Officer

About The Job
The Women Lead in Emergencies (WLiE) Officer will coordinate and co lead field activities as part of the broader EYN led project and will work in close collaboration with other staffs to implement activities in Potiskum.
The WLiE Officer will coordinate and co-facilitate activities in the project’s selected communities with women’s collectives (groups) in the community, facilitating discussions with the women’s groups on gender and power dynamics and social norms; supporting these groups to develop action plans to advocate for change and achieve collectively determined goals on issues of priority to the group.
The WLiE officer will be responsible for supporting the women’s groups to take the leadership in the reflection discussion, the development of their action plans, and implementation of the activities, utilizing participatory and inclusive approaches to do so.
The Officer will be responsible for documenting discussions, activities, outcomes, and learnings and will be responsible for regular communication and reporting Program Coordinator and MEAL Officer. Where relevant, the WLiE Officer will be responsible for coordinating and implementing activities with local women led organizations (WLOs) and their networks.
Main Responsibilities
The WLiE Officer will have the following responsibilities:
Support EYN to conduct a capacity assessment of local women led organization and networks' capacity strengthening needs for carrying out their organizational objectives.
Work with women-led organizations to strengthen their organizational capacity and independence.
Support EYN with the implementation of a Rapid Gender Analysis of Power and Participation (RGA-P).
Facilitate reflection and co-creation paces with women’s groups in crisis-affected communities to analyze the barriers and opportunities for women’s meaningful participation in decision-making, response and early recovery, and to develop WLiE action plans to support women’s leadership, with technical support from EYN Women Lead technical team.
Support project’s women’s groups with the implementation of their Action Plans to support their participation, leadership, and decision-making within their communities. This includes participatory approaches to ensure women’s ownership of their action plans and of a small budget to carry out activities to achieve action plan objectives.
Act as community liaison and maintain good relationships with local actors and program stakeholders.
Monitor and maintain the quality of implementation of the WLiE project and consistency and coordination with other project activities and ensure regular and accurate reporting in accordance with the project requirements.
In collaboration with Coordinator and MEAL Officer support with the MEAL process to collect data as related to the project MEAL framework and to capture learning on what does and does not work to support the voice and leadership of women affected by crisis, the process and approach of WLiE and working with women’s rights groups, use of feedback loops to modify the project implementation, and to other learnings and promising practices.
Build relationships with, and networks between, women-led groups and organizations advocating for women’s rights, gender equality women’s voice, and inclusive governance.
Reporting on all activities monthly, or more frequently if required.
And other related responsibilities as necessary
Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Gender Studies, Inclusive Governance, Political Economy, Social Work and, Sociology, or another relevant post-graduate qualification.
Advanced knowledge and at least 3 years of proven practical experience in partnerships with women's rights/led organizations and in implementing and providing technical support to gender transformative programmes, including women’s leadership and political empowerment.
At least 2 years of hands-on professional experience of working in emergency contexts.
Other Requirements:
Experience working with women and men from different cultures and facilitating conversations around power, Participation, and decision-making.
Working knowledge in M&E, report writing and documentation.
Experience working with large, cross-cultural teams on projects with multiple deliverables is desirable.
Existing relationships with women-led organisations and demonstrated ability to link community activists and social movements advocating for gender equality and women’s rights.
A demonstrated strong personal commitment to the goal of women’s empowerment and gender equality.
Adequate problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills.
Effective communication skills in English and Hausa
Excellent knowledge of Nigerian humanitarian aid and development context
Excellent communication, diplomatic skills, and writing skills
Computer proficiency (word, excel and Internet).
