Job Description
Head of Technology, also known as the Chief Technology Officer is responsible for leading and overseeing the technology and innovation functions of the organization.
He or she is to lead and oversee the technology and network functions of the organization and is responsible for developing and implementing technology strategies, ensuring effective delivery of services, and driving innovation in the organisation.
This role requires a strong strategic mindset, technical expertise, and a passion for driving innovation in the telecommunications sector.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation:
Cascade the Group's strategy to create functional strategies aligned with the business goals.
Provide direction, structure, frameworks, models, plans, and roadmaps for effective implementation of the functional strategy.
Regularly review the functional strategy and roadmap to ensure alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem.
Staff Leadership and Management:
Source, recruit, and manage talent in accordance with legislative guidelines.
Foster a culture of collaboration and effective teamwork.
Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interventions when necessary.
Define roles, responsibilities, individual goals, and performance objectives for the team.
Set KPIs and provide regular performance feedback through a well-defined performance review program.
Develop and implement a training plan to build and develop skills within the team.
Governance:
Participate in strategic meetings and provide input.
Drive OpCo wide transformation initiatives and elicit inputs from relevant parties.
Ensure risk mitigation and controls in the function.
Evaluate baseline of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and KPIs.
Prepare proposals/business cases on change initiatives, SLA policies, and procedures.
Escalations:
Escalate issues with severe impact on time, scope, productivity, cost, or resources to the CEO / all Technology teams.
Manage and provide solutions to escalations that have multiple process/function impacts on critical path service delivery.
Function Tactical:
Review and finalize objectives, targets, and budgets for the function.
Review key risks, issues, and dependencies and set mitigation actions.
Make tactical changes and seek sign-off from management when required.
Performance:
Monitor Technology & Network functional performance and alignment with overall OpCo strategy.
Review and approve SLAs and exception performance.
Manage function's budgets in line with business objectives.
Ensure cost-effective operations and adherence to least cost operating strategy.
Operational Delivery:
Monitor and align the direction, strategy, and results of the Technology & Network vertical.
Manage Technology Infrastructure, Network, and Service delivery.
Oversee the development of Network and supporting Infrastructure environment.
Manage technical implementation of agreed initiatives and successful delivery.
Assist in deploying IT Infrastructure and assets within the OpCo.
Oversee all infrastructure Network Deployment plans.
Ensure network resilience, redundancy, and security.
Manage equipment providers, subcontractors, technical teams, and service providers.
Oversee Network Planning & Capacity, Network operations, and Infrastructure roll-out.
Manage enterprise Information Security & IT service management.
Resolve customer complaints and escalations within agreed SLA timelines.
Stay updated on technology trends in telecom infrastructure and apply relevant changes.
Build quality assurance and data protection processes and policies.
Develop and maintain network availability and quality metrics.
Ensure appropriate maintenance processes are in place.
Job Requirements
Education:
Minimum of B.Tech / B.Eng / B.Sc Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
Master's Degree in Technology / Engineering is preferred.
Experience:
5 to 8 years of relevant experience in a similar position, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
10 to 12 years of professional/technical experience in wholesale/infrastructure/B2B Telecommunications sector with expertise in Planning & Designing of FTTX Networks.
Experience in service-based business for FTTx and Telecommunications Design of Infrastructure is advantageous.
Experience in MapInfo/Spatial net/GIS Tools/AutoCAD is useful.
Solid track record in leading and delivering successful network rollout projects.
Experience in a global/multinational enterprise with an understanding of emerging markets.
