Software Engineer - Golang at OjirehPrime Financial Service Limited

OjirehPrime is a digital bank that offers more transparent and customer focused banking services with access to loans, innovative savings product and free credit card delivered to your doorstep. We started as an e-commerce company in Nov 2016 from a faulty samsung tab whose battery lasted only 30mins. One Year later we realised that only 4% of payments were made using the debit card for fear of falling victim to card frauds. 96% of payments were made via direct fund transfers. To address this - in 2018, we launched Ojirehprime card which is a prepaid card that is not connected to your bank account and within two years, we grew organically over 40,000 users.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain software applications using Golang and/or Java.
• Collaborate with the product management and design teams to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that meets industry standards.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to ensure software quality and performance.
• Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure adherence to coding best practices.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions and improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues reported by users or discovered during testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality software products within project timelines.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong proficiency in Golang and/or Java development, with a deep understanding of the language syntax, standard libraries, and best practices.
• Proven experience in developing and maintaining web applications using Golang and/or Java.
• Familiarity with web frameworks such as Echo, Gorilla, Spring boot e.t.c.
• Proficiency in using version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaboration tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Experience in Financial Services is an advantage.
• Experience with other programming languages and technologies, such as JavaScript, VueJS, or containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), is a plus.
