Posted on Thu 14th Sep, 2023 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

Technical Advice Connect Limited/GTE (TA Connect) is a non-profit organization registered in 2021 and based in Nigeria to bring innovative solutions to the provision of Technical Assistance (TA) services across Africa. TA Connect was established by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to deliver tailored and cohesive support for states in Nigeria by strengthening their PHC systems and enhancing PHC service delivery. As an innovative platform, we respond to state TA priorities to promote sustainable improvements in state Primary Healthcare (PHC) systems’ performance and increase uptake of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) services.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Graphic / Visual Illustration Consultant

Location:
Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description / Scope of Work (SOW)

  • This sets forth the services to be provided by the Graphic/Visual illustration Consultant to Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect), a non-profit organization registered in 2021 and based in Nigeria to bring innovative solutions to the provision of Technical Assistance (TA) services to states in Nigeria.

Background
Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect) is an innovative Technical Assistance (TA) delivery platform, instituted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to respond to State TA priorities to promote sustainable improvements in State Primary Healthcare (PHC) systems' performance and increase the uptake of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) services. Working with the State Ministries of health (SMoH), State Primary Health Care Development Agencies (SPHCDAs), and Local Government Health Authorities (LGHAs), TAConnect has supported eight states to adopt, implement, and sustain GANC/PNC as a health systems intervention that can serve as a veritable platform to improve the uptake and quality of well-integrated RMNCH services.

Going forward with the successes of GANC/PNC innovation, TAConnect under its new investment will be supporting states to leverage the G-ANC/PNC model as a veritable platform to layer a suite of contextualized RMNCAH+N high-impact interventions leveraging a strong data-driven and evidence-based framework that will ramp uptake of key services such as family planning, maternal and childhood immunization, malaria in pregnancy, nutrition and newborn care service with the aim of improving maternal and newborn outcomes.

With the significant change in the scope of the GANC model with the expectation to layer high-impact interventions along the continuum of care, it has become imperative and expedient to review and update the GANC manual to reflect the current implementation approach to ensure that G-ANC/PNC cohorts receive integrated and holistic services along the continuum that are women-centered and of high quality. This update will ensure that the G-ANC manual is enriched with relevant content on high-impact interventions such as PPFP, PAFP, Immunization and newborn care and cross-cutting themes such as gender to provide cohorts with adequate information to make informed decisions to improve their health. Along with the manual was a set of picture card developed to convey relevant pictural content on high-impact interventions as mentioned.

In view of the foregoing TAConnect is seeking a highly skilled Graphic/Visual illustration Consultant to create high-quality imageries and illustrations that effectively communicate intended messages and evoke emotions suitable for adaptation in National and Subnational IEC materials relating to the GANC/PNC.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Engage the program team to understand the GANC concept, the content of the manual, picture cards, and other relevant materials.
  • Collaborate with the program team to develop and align ideas and props for image illustration to be used in manuals and other publications.
  • Translate complex medical/health-related concepts into visually compelling and easy-to-understand visuals.
  • Use literary skills to develop appropriate characters, themes, and believable plots where applicable.
  • Enhance existing digital images/illustrations, including the application of contrasts and gradients.
  • Create high-quality digital illustrations using any of the industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, Photoshop, After Effects, Affinity Designers, etc.

Deliverables / Outputs

  • High-quality portable network graphics, and/or scalable vector graphics files for the agreed illustrations as applicable.
  • Please note that usage rights to these outputs will solely be that of Technical Advice Connect (TAConnect).

Duration & Duty Station:

  • The period of the assignment will be 10 working days. The consultant will be free to work independently from any base location but will be required for physical interaction on a need-by-case basis.
  • S/he will however be expected to provide his/her own work equipment and space except where otherwise stated.

Supervision:

  • The consultant will work closely with the programs team, and be managed by the Technical Director & Program Manager, under the supervision of the Knowledge and Communication Specialist at TA Connect.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree / HND in Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Education, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in visual and graphic illustration for print media - particularly Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials e.g., graphic novels, comic books, and children's storybooks.
  • Proven experience in creating graphics materials for public health-related projects that effectively convey complex health-related messages to a diverse audience will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard graphic illustration /design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects etc.), Affinity Designers and other relevant software tools is mandatory.
  • Excellent understanding of visual communication principles, color theory and composition, contrast and gradients, typography, and layout design.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including health professionals and program managers, to ensure the alignment of design materials with project objectives and messages.
  • Ability to generate hand-drawn and digital pen illustration concepts quickly and precisely with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAH+N) topics would be a plus.

Application Closing Date
27th September, 2023 (Before 11:59 PM Nigerian Time).
