Job Title: Community Support Worker / Psychosocial Community Mobilizer - Zaria LGA, Kaduna State - 1
Location: Zaria LGA, Kaduna

Reports to: Psychologist/Protection Officer
Supervised by: Psychologist/Protection Officer
Starting Date: ASAP (3 Months with possibility of extension)
Working Condition: 100% Field Based
Project / Programme: Improved Early Warning Systems and Social Safety Nets for rapid disaster response in North West Nigeria
Summary
The Community Support Workers (CSW)/(/Psychosocial community mobilisers is responsible to execute all the tasks with respect to community mobilization and coordination of protection/conflict and DRR activities in assigned local government areas in Kaduna State.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
Under the direct supervision of the protection officer, and in collaboration with the Senior program officer and other collaborators of Sokoto Bases, S/he will:
Act as a representative of COOPI at the LGA level ensuring professional relationship is built between the organization, the community, community leaders, government officials, civil society in the area etc.
Conduct mobilization of communities and community groups for implementation of various Disaster risk reduction, social protection, protection and peace building activities including meetings, training, assessments, evaluations etc.
Provide community and door to door awareness and sensitization on GBV, PSS and Social protection related concerns etc..
Ensure equal participation of women and men in all project activities
Liaise with protection officer, MEAL officer, local communities and community leaders to ensure an appropriate gender sensitive complaint and feedback mechanism is in place and functional.
Contribute to the design and implementation of outreach activities to provide inputs to outreach community stakeholders.
Provide the linkage between COOPI and LGA ensuring local authorities, community leaders and community members are updated about the project.
Support assessments or data collection at LGA level in coordination with protection officer and MEAL officer.
Additional Responsibilities:
Performs any other necessary action related to the position to achieve the objectives of the project and of COOPI in Nigeria if requested by the Team Leader
Upholds COOPI’s mission and Charter of Values;
Follows and enforces all COOPI codes of conduct and policies (globally and in-country);
Perform any other action related with the position needed to achieve the objectives of the projects and of COOPI Nigeria if requested by his/her supervisor.

Requirements
Education:
Minimum of National Diploma, National Certificate of Education in Social Studies, Project Management, Disaster Management or another relevant field.
Professional training in disaster risk management and or social protection.
Experience:
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in NGO
Candidate from and or living in Zaria LGA of Kaduna State will be prioritized.
Experience working with local community groups and institutions like schools etc.
Proven knowledge of community mobilization and participatory methodologies
Prior experience implementing Disaster Risk Reduction, Protection, peace building and conflict transformation programmes at local community levels would be an added advantage
Knowledge, Skills and Languages:
Fluently spoken and written in English is required
Have a knowledge of a local language preferably Hausa.
Strong technical skills in disaster risk management, protection or peace building and conflict transformation
Self-supporting in computers (word processing, spreadsheets, internet and web-based searching etc.)
Very good understanding of local context (socio, political and economic situation of the area)
Good communication, interpersonal and networking skills
Qualities:
Adhere to COOPI values and abide by the code of conduct and other policies.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Mastery of English (fluency in spoken and written languages).
Have a knowledge of a local language preferably Hausa.
