Job Purpose

  • To ensure efficient implementation and coordination of all site instrumentation services that will optimize operation strategies in improving productivity, improving product quality, reducing downtime, reducing waste and developing people’s skills.

  • Peer Relationships: Production Managers, Maintenance Managers, Engineering Managers

Direct Reports are:

  • Site Instrumentation technicians

Internal & External Relationships:

  • Identify the most significant ones
  • Attach a preferred suppliers list if available
  • Detail which networks the jobholder will be part of e.g. finance, category
  • Work with OEM during commissioning of new equipment or installation upgrade.
  • Work with OEM for Special Intervention on all automated packaging equipment.
  • Effective monitoring of weighbridge systems at PZ Cussons Aba and PZ Cussons Port Harcourt tank farm as well as coordinating the activities of the external contractors during calibration
  • Takes responsibility for compliance with all EMS related activities in the department in order to prevent, reduce or control environmental pollution arising from environmental aspects identified in the department as documented in the EMS Manual, Departmental Aspect and Impacts register, EMS related SOPs and other relevant documents.

  • Assess technical competence of team and develop plans to address areas of improvement.
  • Lead team by example.
  • Plan human and material resources for execution of planned maintenance jobs.
  • Ensure training/coaching of team for improved productivity and multi-skilling.
  • Ensure team adheres strictly to HSE rules and regulations.
  • To ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) and improve on the system.

  • To prevent, reduce or control environmental pollution arising from environmental aspects identified in the department as documented in the EMS Manual, Departmental Aspect and Impacts register, EMS related SOPs and other relevant documents.
  • Monitor and prepare environmental performance reports relating to the extent of compliance with EMS requirements

Performance Indicators:

  • Prepare environmental performance reports in compliance to EMS requirements
  • Key Accountability: To drive and maintain a high performance in Occupational, Health & Safety and Environmental Care standards/practice;

Key Activities:

  • To consistently and visibly demonstrate their personal commitment to an involvement in occupational Health and Safety issues at all times.
  • Ensuring that all incidents involving and/ or potentially involving, injury to persons, to property or the environment are reported immediately
  • Ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental issues are fully considered and successfully resolved during the design, installation and commissioning of all building/process/ procedural modifications and that an appropriate HSE Audit has been successfully completed before modification is handed over to operational management.
  • To maintain procedures to enable a quick response to an emergency situation if it occurs and minimize its impact on the Health & Safety of employees, contractors, stakeholder and Environmental
  • To heighten employees' HSE awareness and provide appropriate training for employees, emphasizing individual responsibility for sound HSE management.
  • To be aware of the hazards in the workplace under his control and control measures to reduce the risk presented by those hazards.
  • To develop and maintain appropriate two-way communication and training programs on HSE matters.

  • Key Accountability: To coordinate Good manufacturing Practice activities on site in line with agreed GMP standards (PZC GMP Standard/NAFDAC GMP requirements).

  • Train personnel on the concept of Quality/GMP
  • Create System for the assessment of Quality/GMP activities
  • Follow up on closing of identified Quality/ GMP gaps
  • Improve on the GMP score of the audited area.

  • Timely training of personnel
  • Provision of GMP Checklist (as required)
  • Circulation of GMP Follow-up report
  • Sharing of GMP information and improvement idea/Improvement of GMP score of different area.

Key Accountability:

  • To ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) and improve on the system.

Key Activities:

  • Ensure proper identification of processes, the inputs/outputs as well as their performance indicators.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the quality systems through regular audits/evaluations.
  • Ensure effectiveness of Control of non-conforming raw material/intermediate products and finished products.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of corrective action and preventive actions
  • Ensure the effectiveness of Product realization systems

  • Documented identified processes as well as their performance indicators and success criteria
  • Effective quality system devoid of repetitive failure
  • Proper records for non-conformances and actions on them
  • Proper  records on action to consumer/customer complaints

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Needed:

Required Qualifications

  • B.Sc. / BEng.   Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Required Experience:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office suite
  • Excellent Analytical and Numerical skills
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring and control systems, programmable logic controller
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of electrical circuit diagram interpretation.
  • Ability to handle electronic equipment and tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills with a good eye for details.
  • Excellent planning and scheduling skills.
  • Good communication skills
