The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) is an independent humanitarian medical NGO that was created in 2009 by professionals of humanitarian medicine. ALIMA’s mission is to provide medical care in emergency situations or medical catastrophes.

Alima in Nigeria

• ALIMA has been present in Nigeria since 2016. Its actions are part of a regional response strategy to health and nutrition emergencies, with a focus on pediatric, maternal-infant and epidemic interventions.
• ALIMA is present in North-East Nigeria in Borno State (MMC and Jere LGAs) and in Yobe State (Bade and Karasuwa LGAs) where it provides outpatient and inpatient healthcare and nutrition services for IDPs and host communities.
• In North-West Nigeria, ALIMA is in Katsina State (Kaita LGA) to respond to increased nutritional needs. ALIMA is present in the South-West, in Ondo State (Owo LGA) where teams are treating patients for Lassa fever and conducting research into improved treatment.
• In Borno state, ALIMA ensures outpatient and inpatient access to nutrition services, as well as outpatient health care in MMC and Jere LGAs. In 2022, ALIMA delivered 85,925 OPD consultations and treated 9,278 SAM cases without complications at the OTP level. 3,963 deliveries were conducted, and 2,446 mental health consultations were delivered. ALIMA also provided inpatient care for SAM cases with complications within 3 stabilization centers (University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital -UMTH, Gwange II, and Fatima Ali Sheriff - in MMC) and treated 3,386 SAM children with complications.

Protection of Beneficiaries and Community Members

• Level 3: As part of his / her duties, the incumbent will visit programs and come into contact with children and/or vulnerable adults.
• Therefore, a criminal record check or a certificate of good character will be required. In situations where a criminal record or character reference is not available, a statement of good character will be required.  

Functional and Hierarchical Links:

• Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, you will work closely with the Logistics Coordinator.
• You will supervise the Maiduguri’s team composed of 1 log supervisor, 1 WASH supervisor, 1 log assistant, Watchmen and drivers.

Mission and Main Activities

• The Project Logistics Manager is responsible to plan, coordinate and monitor all logistics related activities in the project area including all non-medical assistance related activities (shelter, food, water hygiene-sanitation and essential non-food items) and provide support to medical assistance activities, according to ALIMA standards in order to ensure an optimal running of the project.
• The Project Logistics Manager supports the growing activities of the Project with the resources, procedures and tools defined with the Logistics Coordinator, in order to facilitate achievement of the operational objectives.

The Project Logistics Manager is:

• responsible to ensure the implementation of support (communications, electricity, transport, IT) and any other logistical activities required to achieve the medical objectives (construction/restoration, water & sanitation, Cold Chain, etc.)
• Responsible to lead & manage the WASH, Construction & Rehabilitation activities of the project. (Making sure that there is an appropriate waste disposal, hygiene & Sanitation practices are in place at the health facilities.)
• Involved with the Project Coordinator in Mapping/Identification of the local actors within the area of intervention: local authorities, NGOs, etc. to ensure good relationship with all the actors
• Responsible to plan and supervise, in close collaboration with the Project Coordination, the associated processes (recruitment, training, induction, performance evaluation, development of skills and internal / external communication) of the project logistics staff in order to ensure the required performance and achieving goals.
• Responsible to compile the quantitative logistics data (consummations, stocks, distributions) and analyze them before transmission to the project coordinator and the logistics coordinator in monthly reporting.
• Implementation of preventive measures against abuse of power, gender-based and sexual violence
• Ensure that his team members follow training and awareness sessions and apply standards   relating to the prevention of abuse.
• Contribute to creating and maintaining a nurturing and protective environment for his/her team, community members, and partners involved in the project.

Experience and Skills

• You have a University Degree in Logistics, Supply or any other relevant field
• You also have successful experiences in humanitarians Logistics supply management, with the role of internal procurement compliance.
• You have strong team management abilities, supervision skills and leadership qualities.
• You are flexible and proactive and you have perfect knowledge of the MS Office, especially Excel and Word.

Conditions

• Contract term: Contract under French law; contract length: 6 months, renewable.
• Position to be filled: Autumn 2023
• Salary: Depending on experience

ALIMA pays for:

• Travel costs between the expatriate’s country of origin and the mission location
• Accommodation costs
• Medical cover from the first day of the contract to a month after the date of departure from the mission country for the employee and his/her family.
