Grant Officer at Women for Women International Nigeria

Women for Women International is an International non-governmental organization whose mandate includes providing women survivors of wars, civil strife and other conflicts resources for survival, reduce poverty level and ensure their self-sufficiency. The organization, with headquarters in Washington DC, USA, has country offices in eight countries, including Nigeria. We implement a 12-months training and education program designed to improve key social and economic outcomes for the most socially excluded women. The program targets every aspect of women’s lives; health and wellbeing (including nutrition, hygiene & HIV/AIDS prevention and protection), economic stability, family decision making and social safety nets.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Grant Officer

Location: Plateau
Employment Type: Full-time

Purpose

• The Grant Officer will play a crucial role in managing grant activities. This position involves overseeing the reporting and compliance requirements associated with secured grants.
• The Grant Officer will collaborate closely with Program Managers, actively participating in proposal development and working with other team members to ensure timely grant reporting for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
Proposal Development:

• Collaborate with program managers and staff to gather information and data necessary for grant proposals.
• Participate in the grant management meetings aligning specific donor requirements and guidelines of each funding source.

Grant Management:

• Track the status and deadlines of grants and provide regular updates to the CD and Senior Management Team.
• Coordinate with program managers to ensure timely and accurate reporting to grantors.

Grant Compliance:

• Monitor grant agreements, terms, and conditions to ensure compliance with funding source requirements.
• Collaborate with program teams to ensure the timely submission of progress reports, financial reports, and other documentation as required by grantors.

Relationship Building:

• Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with the Program Team and funding partners.
• Stay informed about funding opportunities and trends in the INGO sector.

Budgeting and Financial Oversight:

• Assist in the development of project budgets for grant proposals.
• Monitor grant-related expenses and work with the finance team to ensure proper allocation of funds.

Skills and Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Non-profit Management, Finance, or a related area is typically required.
• Strong research abilities to identify potential funding sources, understand donor priorities and stay updated on the latest trends and opportunities in the international development and humanitarian sectors.
• Understanding of financial management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey the organization's mission, goals, and project impacts to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
• The ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with donors, partner organizations, and internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration and trust.
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural settings, especially in international contexts.
• Basic data analysis skills to interpret project data, assess outcomes, and report on grant-funded activities accurately.
• The capacity to adapt to changing donor requirements, evolving organizational strategies, and shifting priorities in the international development landscape.
• Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies.
• Passion for and commitment to the mission and values of WfWi
• Prior experience in grant writing, proposal development, and grant management within the INGO sector is highly desirable.
• Experience working in international settings, especially in developing countries, can be an asset, as it demonstrates an understanding of the challenges and dynamics of global development.
• Knowledge of working with various international donors, such as government agencies, foundations, and multilateral organizations, and an understanding of their specific requirements and reporting standards.
• A strong network within the INGO and donor communities can be advantageous for identifying funding opportunities and building partnerships.
• Proficiency in English language is required; Hausa language is an advantage
