Job Title: Group Reporting Accountant

Job Description
The Ideal candidate should be highly experienced and detail-oriented Group Reporting Accountant with a strong background in asset management, fixed income, inert-dealer brokerage, and oil and gas industries
Responsibilities
Ensure accurate financial statements, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations
Prepare, deliver reliable financial statements/reports for the company’s various business segments
Reporting requirements specific to asset management, fixed income, inter-dealing, loan book management and oil and gas sector
Establish and lead the finance functions- treasury, tax, statutory and management accounting, financial control, and internal and external reporting
Provide financial analysis and insights including investment strategies, risk assessment, and market trends
Assess financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Ensure compliance with industry specific regulations, reporting standards, and tax requirements
Liaise with external organizations including regulatory organizations, external auditors, banks
Stay updated on regulation changes and implement adjustments to financial reporting practices
Facilitate the annual budgeting process, working with other departments and investee companies
Assist in the development and management of annual budget and long-term financial forecasts
Cash flow projections to ensure appropriateness for operations and planned investments
Monitor budget variances and provide explanations and recommendations as needed
Handle full accounting functions- AR, AP, bank and intercompany reconciliation, counterparty
Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances within the group’s entities, addressing any discrepancies
Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address audit queries
Prepare and submit financial reports to regulatory bodies and stakeholders as required.
Implement policies to effectively manage working capital.
Maintain and ensure compliance with documented system of finance policies and procedures across the group.
Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering professional development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and insight for reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
Master’s Degree, ACCA, ACA, CIMA). CFA is an added advantage
Minimum of 4 years’ auditing/accounting experience in financial institutions- asset management, Fixed Incomes, banking, Audit, Private Equity, etc.
Additional exposure to the oil and gas sector is an added advantage
In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS) and industry-specific regulations
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Proficiency in accounting/financial software packages
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Leadership experience and the ability to mentor and develop team members.
