Job Title: Junior Information Management Assistant
The north eastern part of Nigeria has witnessed an increase in violence since the beginning of 2015, causing a major humanitarian crisis. More than 1.9 million individuals are currently displaced because of the intensified attacks by the insurgents, as well as the counter insurgency activities of the Nigerian government, with the highest number of displacements taking place in Borno, Yobe & Adamawa states.
Many of those are living in substandard shelters in displacement sites & are in dire need of support. Many of the displaced households have left their home in a hurry leaving behind most of their belongings, thus the need for the distribution of basic Non Food Items (NFI).
In addition, nearly an equal caseload of people affected by the crisis has returned to their areas of origin following displacement & some pockets of stability & relative security exist in the region. Considering the ongoing crisis, our clients response in Nigeria is expanding with changing needs.
Under the overall supervision of the Program Manager (Shelter / NFI) & the direct supervision of the Project Officers (shelter / NFI & shelter / site planning), the Junior IM Assistant will be responsible for supporting the reporting & data analysis of the Shelter & NFI activities implemented by our client in Nigeria, particularly in the north east.
Role Objectives
Support the unit to identify & implement technical solutions related to data collection, analysis & visualization of shelter / NFI data, in line with best practices on data security & data protection.
Support the Program Officer in the preparation of regular shelter / NFI reports & other qualitative / quantitative reports, maps, infographics, etc.
Support the quantitative & qualitative analysis of shelter / NFI’s data as well as the distribution of project dashboards & other information outputs.
Participate in meetings & conferences related to information management with local authorities, partners, United Nations agencies, intergovernmental & non governmental organizations, donors & other stakeholders relevant to the program.
Regularly contribute to the CCCM / shelter / NFI sector’s 5W matrix with information related to our clients shelter & NFI programs.
Support & conduct capacity building activities for both internal staff & external stakeholders on the data management life cycle to improve accuracy in data collection, data analysis & presentation skills through training & supportive remote supervision.
Support the need based analysis through data management & GIS analysis to identify targets, coverage & gaps.
Support the development of mapping projects & production of maps to effectively support our clients cartographic needs.
Support with weekly sitreps & other internal & external reports (including donor reporting) in terms of data / information.
Support the department with digital archiving of SNFI documents & activities.
Perform such other duties as required.

This role works under the overall supervision of the Program Manager (Shelter / NFI) & the direct supervision of the Project Officers (shelter / NFI & shelter / site planning).
Team management
This role has no team management responsibility.
Qualifications
Diploma in or Degree in ICT, Computer Science, Statistics, Database, Business Administration, or any related field (essential).
Sector experience: Minimum of 1 year of demonstrable relevant Information Analysis experience (essential).
Geographical experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in Africa (essential).
Languages: Fluent in English (essential).
Key Competencies
Diploma or Degree in ICT, Computer Science, Statistics, Database, Business Administration, or any related field.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel including pivot tables, functions, etc. & internet applications, Microsoft Outlook, Access.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite & graphic design skills.
Advanced knowledge of mobile data collection, especially ODK & KOBO.
Experience in using software programs such as Excel & Power BI for data analysis.
Previous work experience with an international organization or NGO dealing with refugees would be a strong advantage.
Basic knowledge of GIS tools & relational databases (e.g., QGIS, SQL Server Spatial).
Fluency in English is required (oral & written) & knowledge of any local language is an advantage.
