Job Title: General Manager

Overview
The General Manager is primarily responsible for managing all day-to-day business operations of Umudike Seeds and reports to the company’s Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate will possess a keen interest in early-generation roots and tuber seed production. This is a challenging but rewarding position that offers the opportunity to make a real impact on the agricultural landscape in Nigeria.
The position will be based mainly in Umudike, Abia State, but will oversee the entire organization process across the different locations of operation.
Job Description
In this role, you will be required to fulfill the following primary responsibilities working as the principal member of the Umudike Seeds team:
Responsible for the overall leadership and execution of the company's vision and mission strategies.
Ensure the company attracts and retains highly motivated, efficient, and effective team members.
Develop and implement strategic business plans to meet production and sales targets of Umudike Seeds service offerings.
Ensure the company's financial health; prepare budgets, financial statements, and reports.
Serve as the organization's spokesperson and build and manage relationships with local and international stakeholders to identify and develop new markets and opportunities.
Set long-term goals and oversee the implementation of the company's short, medium, and long-term plans.
Oversee all company functions, operations and production teams and ensure adherence to deadlines and requirements and alignment with established company plans.
Ensure strict compliance with all early-generation seed production regulations, as required.
Ensure sustainability, efficient management of resources, and proper planning for the company.
Engage in fundraising activities such as proposal development to obtain additional grants and funding, as required.
Interface with the Board and plan for and present reports during Board meetings
Engage in all other activities required to ensure the company's success.
Qualifications and requirements
Advanced Degree (M.Sc / MBA / Ph.d) in Agriculture, Business Management, or related disciplines.
Strong managerial and operations skills with clear evidence of ability to execute.
Strong sales, marketing, and financial management skills.
Proven track record of success in leading and managing teams.
Strong understanding of seed multiplication and production processes.
Exceptional public speaking and communication (oral, written, reading, listening) skills.
Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated leadership, management, and coordination skills.
A self-starter who works effectively under stress and pressure.
Willingness to undertake local and international travel when necessary.
