We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Academic Advisor

Location: Adamawa
Employment type: Full-time

Summary of Position

• The position assesses student needs, goals, interests and prior academic experiences in order to guide students in the design and implementation of a successful academic plan.
• The position shall collaborate with faculty members to address the academic advising needs of individuals or group of students.
• The position shall report directly to the Director Academic Advising.

Detailed Listing of Responsibilities

• Assists students in selecting course work appropriate to their skill levels and career and academic goals
• Assists students with an educational plan showing academic requirements for them to meet their goals
• Maintains contact with students during the term and provides academic advising assistance
• Serves as a liaison with the Director of Advising and Retention as needed to assist students. 
• Provides information to students regarding financial assistance available to them
• Assists in developing strategies which address student retention issues
• Perform other duties as assigned or delegated by supervisor

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a recognized tertiary institution with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with college students or young adults in an academic or career services counseling capacity.
• Sound understanding of academic advising and student development theory, and success in working collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and students
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
