Job Title: Massage Therapist

Job Summary

•  A massage therapist provides therapeutic and relaxation massages to clients with the aim of improving their physical and mental well-being.
• They use their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various massage techniques to address clients' specific needs and promote overall health.

Responsibilities
Client Consultation:

• Conduct thorough consultations with clients to understand their health history, specific concerns, and desired outcomes.
• Assess clients' conditions and create personalized treatment plans.

Massage Therapy:

• Administer a variety of massage techniques, such as Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, and others, based on client needs and preferences.
• Modify massage techniques as necessary to accommodate individual client conditions or preferences.
• Provide relief for conditions like stress, muscle tension, injuries, and chronic pain.

Maintain Clean and Safe Environment:

• Ensure a clean and organized workspace, including regularly sanitizing massage equipment and maintaining hygiene standards.
• Create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for clients.

Record Keeping:

• Keep accurate and confidential records of client information, treatment plans, and progress notes.

Educate Clients:

• Educate clients about the benefits of massage therapy, self-care practices, and techniques to enhance their overall well-being.
• Provide guidance on stretching, posture, and other lifestyle factors contributing to their conditions.

Continuing Education:

• Stay informed about new massage techniques, industry trends, and advancements in the field through continuing education.

Client Communication:

• Communicate effectively with clients regarding treatment plans, progress, and follow-up care.
• Obtain feedback from clients to ensure their satisfaction and make adjustments as needed.

Business Operations:

• Manage appointment schedules, handle payments, and maintain client records.
• Market and promote massage therapy services to attract new clients.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized massage therapy program.
• State licensure or certification as required by the jurisdiction.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various massage techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt massage techniques to individual client needs.
• Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform massages.
• Physical strength and stamina to provide deep tissue massages if required.

Working Conditions:

• Work may be performed in spas, wellness centers, chiropractic offices, or as a self-employed practitioner.
• A massage therapist plays a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of clients, contributing to both physical and mental relaxation and recovery.

Salary
N40,000 - N60,000 / month.
