Job Title: Deputy Program Director - Technical

Position Summary
The Deputy Program Director – Technical will be responsible for overseeing the technical areas of the program to work towards sustainable management of soil fertility. (S)he will work closely with and support the Program Director in implementing the overall program.
(S)he will be posted in one of the four focus countries and may also be called to perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to support the achievement of the program’s overall objectives.
Responsibilities
Coordinate with the Program Director in the management of technical workstreams of the program, providing leadership and support overseeing the planning of activities to meet the program’s goals and objectives;
Together with the Program Director and Deputy Program Director – Operations ensure timely submission of complete and high-quality work plans, quarterly and annual reports, financial reports, and any other reports required;
Assist the Program Director in the day-to-day program operations, staff management, overall program planning, and implementation of the program;
Help ensure results-oriented technical workstreams and high-quality and timely deliverables and reports, focusing on synergistic coordination of all technical areas;
Ensure that technical assistance/services provided by experts and the program team are technically sound and appropriate regarding the specific program agreements.
Reporting and Work Relationships
The Deputy Program Director - Technical is supervised by and reports to the Program Director. (S)he works in close collaboration with Country Director, project colleagues, other IFDC staff and colleagues from other project consortium members.
Job Requirements
Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Business Management, Agriculture, Agronomy, Soil Science, or another related field
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in international development in West Africa, specifically in agricultural program implementation and evaluation
Demonstrated technical leadership in multi-sectoral agricultural programming
Key knowledge of agriculture in West Africa, specifically soil fertility
Ability to collaborate effectively with public and private sector partners, including donor agencies, government officials, and industry groups
Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Excelled interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
Experience in multicultural, multilingual environments
Fluency in speaking and writing English and French
Strong writing and editing skills
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the West African region
Experience with the Dutch Ministry and Embassies of the Kingdom
