Job Overview
Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research to gather relevant information and precedents related to
ongoing and potential litigation cases.
Researching legal concepts, case law, judicial opinions, statutes and regulations
Participating in investigations, including through drafting investigation plans and
conducting open-source investigations,
Assist in managing litigation cases from inception to resolution.
Prepare and file legal documents, maintain case files, and ensure compliance
with court deadlines.
Scheduling and conducting depositions of witnesses and experts
Maintaining accurate case files, notes and reports
Review legal documents, contracts, and agreements to assess potential legal risks
and provide recommendations to the legal team.
Providing proper legal citation and statutory interpretation
Represent the organization in court proceedings, hearings, and mediations.
Effectively communicate legal arguments and negotiate settlements when
appropriate.
Working closely with team members to prepare a comprehensive brief on each
case that goes to trial
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization.
Ensure compliance with legal requirements in all aspects of litigation.
Making sure all parties are carrying out their court order sentence and paying the
necessary fines
Communicate with internal stakeholders, external legal counsel, and regulatory
authorities.
Provide updates on litigation matters and legal risks to senior management.
Engage in negotiations and settlement discussions to resolve legal disputes
efficiently and in the best interest of the organization.
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and responses.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of legal filings.
Writing legal documents such as contracts, lawsuits, deeds and appeals
Dispatch of documents, letters, papers and the like.
Preparing all documents required to file cases, including briefs and other court
documents
Take meeting minutes and distribute to staff and/or partners, as needed;
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Law. A Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
2. 3-5 years of experience in litigation, preferably with a focus on corporate or
commercial law.
3. Ability to analyze legal issues and develop effective strategies.
4. Strong critical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to articulate legal arguments clearly and concisely.
7. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
8. Proactive and self-motivated.
9. Collaborate effectively with internal legal teams, external counsel, and other
stakeholders.
10. Meticulous attention to detail, especially in the preparation and review of legal
documents.
11. Familiarity with legal research databases, document management systems, and
Microsoft Office Suite.
12. Ability to meet up with deadlines and work under pressure.
13. Strong administrative and clerical skills
