FairMoney is building the leading mobile bank for emerging markets. We started with a digital microcredit application on Android, and currently roll out additional financial services (current account, savings, debit card) while expanding the product to Western Africa and South-East Asia.

• You will be working as a Senior Engineering Manager in our Technology Division, which is now composed of 75+ people in Lagos, Abuja, Bangalore, Paris, Türkiye, and remotely across the globe.

About the Role

• Reporting directly to the head of engineering in a business unit, we are looking for senior engineering manager that has come ideally from Backend software engineering career. The role is mainly remote and occasional office visit.

Job Description

• Scaling and leading our globally distributed software engineering teams (Mobile, Backend, QA).
• Putting processes in place to ensure high quality and timely delivery of team engineering objectives.
• Managing and contributing at times in our quest to build scalable infrastructure whilst limiting technical debt at all times. Look at engineering solutions through the lens of efficiency, quality, and velocity.

• Architecture: Containerised Micro-service
• Mobile Application: React Native
• Web Application: ReactJS
• Configuration management: Terraform, Kubernetes, AppService.
• CI/CD: Azure Devops, Github Actions.

Requirements

• You have an Engineering or University Diploma in Computer Science (we are also open to self-taught with 5 years experience in computer engineering).
• At least 7 - 12 years of experience in backend development.
• You have one significant work experience managing and leading a software engineering team.
• You are able to code in a backend language (C#,Javascript, Python, Java).
• Understanding of Azure or AWS cloud providers.
• Understanding the overall architecture and function of how multiple technology teams work togethers to build systems.
