Plan and prepare monitoring activities according to the requirements of own role.
Determine whether assessment processes and systems meet and operate according to quality requirements.
Analyse tutor/assessor capabilities and potential in the context of their objectives and other requirements.
Agree and prioritise tutor/assessor learning needs and produce individual development plans with tutor/assessors to reflect these.
Provide tutors/assessors with developmental feedback, advice and support to help them maintain and improve their assessment practice.
Track learner progress and check that assessments are planned, prepared for and carried out according to agreed procedures.
Check that assessment methods are safe, fair, valid and reliable.
Check that assessment decisions are made using specified criteria.
Compare tutor/assessor decisions to ensure they are consistent.
Work with tutors/assessors and learners to ensure the standardisation of assessment practice and outcomes.
Chair and minute standardisation and qualification specific tutor/assessor meetings as appropriate.
Ensure timely notification of all qualifications to be claimed together with relevant documentation to prove authenticity of claims.
Liaise with staff regarding External Quality Assurance visits and be actively involved in managing these visits.
Follow agreed procedures when there are significant concerns about the quality of assessment.
Follow agreed procedures for the recording, storing and reporting and confidentiality of information.

Qualifications / Training
Internal Quality Assurer must hold or be working towards IQA such as:
A B.Sc. in any related course, including a relevant experience in health care management, and treatment programming and at least one year in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety and outcome reporting.
Level4 Award in IQA of Assessment Processes and Practice
Level 4 certificate in leading the IQA of assessment processes and practice or V1 Verifier Awards.
Aptitudes and Abilities:
Excellent inter-personal skills.
Excellent communication skills (face-to-face, written, telephone).
Good organisational, administrative and time management skills.
Highly developed ICT skills.
Ability to manage own workload and to work unsupervised.
Ability to work to agreed deadlines.
Knowledge:
Good subject and vocational knowledge and understanding.
Current and up-to date knowledge of good practice in National Occupational Standards.
Ability to complete relevant documentation and produce.
Have a flexible approach and the ability to liaise with learners, employers and curriculum staff.
Knowledge and understanding of the FE sector.
