The Role

• Flutterwave is seeking a highly skilled and Senior Manager, Commercial Risk to join our dynamic Risk team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and stability of the company's commercial operations.
• This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing robust risk management strategies to safeguard Flutterwave's commercial interests while fostering growth and innovation.
• The role requires a dynamic leader with strong analytical skills, deep industry knowledge, and a passion for driving excellence in risk management practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive commercial risk management strategies aligned with Flutterwave's business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Lead a team of risk management professionals to identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks across various business functions and geographies.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and stress tests to evaluate the effectiveness of existing risk controls and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, sales, legal, and compliance, to integrate risk management considerations into business processes and decision-making.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to proactively identify potential threats and opportunities for enhancement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of risk management processes, tools, and frameworks.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry partners, and third-party service providers.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and board of directors to communicate key risk metrics, trends, and insights.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, CFA) is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in commercial risk management, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement in a fast-paced environment.
• Deep understanding of commercial risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices, particularly in the fintech or financial services industry.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, and formulate actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive change, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
