The Role

• Flutterwave is seeking a highly skilled Associate, Commercial Risk to join our dynamic Risk team.
• The ideal candidate will play a critical role in assessing and mitigating potential risks associated with commercial activities.
• This role requires a keen understanding of financial markets, risk management principles, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential threats to the company's commercial operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments on prospective and existing commercial partners, evaluating their financial stability, creditworthiness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and analyze transactional data to identify patterns or anomalies indicative of potential risk exposure.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, compliance, and finance, to develop risk mitigation strategies and ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that may impact Flutterwave's commercial activities.
• Assist in the development and implementation of risk management policies, procedures, and controls to enhance the company's risk management framework.
• Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on key risk metrics, trends, and mitigation efforts.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at optimizing commercial processes and minimizing risk exposure.
• Act as a subject matter expert on commercial risk management, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders as needed.
• Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability across the organization, promoting best practices and continuous improvement in risk management processes.

Required Competency and Skillset to be a Waver

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial risk management, financial analysis, or related fields within the banking, fintech, or payments industry.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify key risk factors.
• Solid understanding of financial markets, credit risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in risk management software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to upholding ethical standards in all aspects of work.
