The ideal candidate will have experience in financial management within the agricultural sector, possessing a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within this industry.
Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis:
Develop and implement financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic decision-making.
Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide insights to senior management for optimizing profitability and operational efficiency.
Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting obligations.
Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Cost Management and Optimization:
Oversee cost accounting processes to accurately track production costs, overhead expenses, and inventory valuation.
Collaborate with operational teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
Monitor and analyze agricultural commodity markets to inform pricing strategies and procurement decisions.
Strategic Financial Planning:
Provide strategic financial guidance and recommendations to senior management, including investment analysis, capital allocation, and risk management.
Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, conducting due diligence and financial modelling to assess their financial impact and feasibility.
Develop long-term financial plans and forecasts to support business growth and expansion initiatives.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Set clear performance objectives, provide regular feedback, and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.
Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships with departments such as operations, procurement, and sales to drive collective success.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in financial management, with a focus on agribusiness or related industries.
Thorough knowledge of agricultural accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Proven track record of leading financial planning processes, managing complex financial models, and driving strategic decision-making.
Strong understanding of agricultural supply chains, production cycles, and market dynamics.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in financial software systems (e.g., ERP, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to ethical business practices.
