Miva Open University is an education company building a new kind of university targeted at the African region. Miva, a subsidiary of the uLesson Group, is a Pan-African Distance e-Learning University that is built on a couple of beliefs: Firstly, we believe that the traditional brick-and-mortar approach to tertiary education is no longer a viable option for serving learners on the African continent. This approach will not provide the capacity and efficacy for the people of the region. We are building a university experience that leverages excellent academic talent (wherever it is to be found) and digital technologies to create a new, fresh, more efficacious and more accessible tertiary experience.

Job Title: Graphic Designer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Overall Function

• As the Graphics Designer, you will play a pivotal role in creating visually compelling educational materials that engage and inspire learners.
• You will collaborate with a dynamic team of educators, content developers, and technology experts to design graphics and visuals that enhance the learning experience.

Role and Responsibilities

• Create visually appealing graphics, illustrations, infographics, and layout designs for a wide range of educational materials, including online courses, textbooks, presentations, and marketing collateral.
• Collaborate with instructional designers and educators to understand educational goals and transform complex concepts into visually accessible and engaging content.
• Maintain and implement brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all educational materials, including web-based platforms, applications, and print materials.
• Incorporate multimedia elements such as animations, videos, and interactive graphics to enhance the learning experience.
• Design and format text content, ensuring readability and visual appeal. Create charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate educational concepts.
• Optimize graphics and visuals for various digital platforms, ensuring responsive and user-friendly designs.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including content developers, videographers, and technology specialists, to integrate graphics seamlessly into educational content.
• Review and proofread designs to maintain accuracy, consistency, and alignment with educational objectives.

Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Multimedia, or a related field. A background in education or eLearning is a plus.
• Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Sketch, or similar tools.
• Strong creative and conceptual thinking, with the ability to translate complex ideas into simple, engaging visuals.
• Familiarity with design principles, typography, color theory, and layout design. Understanding of responsive web design principles is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work within multidisciplinary teams and convey design concepts.
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and tight deadlines in a fast-paced educational technology environment.
• A comprehensive portfolio showcasing your graphic design work, particularly in educational or eLearning contexts.
