Position Overview

• We are a prestigious 200-bed privately owned teaching hospital located in Rivers State and we are seeking a qualified Family Physician to join our medical team.
• The ideal candidate will have completed a fellowship in family medicine from a recognized college. As a Family Physician, you will play a vital role in providing primary care services to patients of all ages, managing chronic illnesses, promoting preventive care, and fostering continuity of care within our hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
• Conduct thorough medical assessments, diagnose medical conditions, and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Manage acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and conditions, ensuring appropriate follow-up and coordination of care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prescribe medications, therapies, and other medical interventions as necessary, adhering to evidence-based guidelines and best practices.
• Educate patients and their families about health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including specialists, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals, to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting patient encounters, assessments, treatments, and follow-up plans.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research projects, and continuing medical education activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
• Adhere to ethical and professional standards of conduct, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and respect for patient autonomy.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility with a diverse patient population.
• Certification by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) or relevant professional body.
• Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and computer literacy.
• Fellowship in Family Medicine from an accredited college or university worldwide.
• Valid medical license to practice in Nigeria.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in family medicine.
• Strong clinical skills in primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of common medical conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with patients and colleagues.
• Commitment to providing patient-centered care with compassion, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, collaborating with healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
• Must be between the ages of 35 and 45 years.
