Job Title: GBV Community Base Auxiliary Social Worker

Locations: Jakusco & Gashua, Yobe
Employment Type: Full-time
Slots: 40 (20 for each location)

Scope of the Vacancy

• Provide support and care for adult survivors of GBV and age appropriately specialized support and care for both genders especially women and girls, boys adolescent girls and boys, including case managements.
• Through the community base approach the GBV social worker will ensure to follow the GBV guiding principle of respect, confidentiality, safety/security and Non-discrimination while providing services.
• The GBV hotline device, ensure to establish a proper  management of survivors from rural area who can access information about services provision and that action can be taken to facilitate their ability to receive their services in a timely manner.
• Ensure to follow the key steps in case managements and adhering to the principle guiding GBV case managements.
• Ensure all documentation on reported cases and referrals made are updated, accurate, organized and well maintained in the case files and the filing cabinet.
• Work with stakeholders to develop and strengthening referral system networks and monitor the implementation of the referral pathways to improve survivor’s access to confidential, safe GBV services in a timely manner to meets their need following the Survivor centered approach guideline.
• Ensure that adherence to GBV guiding principle and the provision of survivor –centered  care ( respect, wishes, decision of survivors)
• In consultation with women and girls, develop and support to implement a series of age appropriate and group emotional and social support activities for women and girls with an emphasis on meeting the need of survivors of GBV and strengthening support networks among women and girls.
• In consultations with GBV officer, develop and implement monthly response plan and GBV key messages/ issues based on cases trends to disseminates information on services available and referral pathways while disseminating the case trend of GBV occurrences to the  COMBAAT team on strategies of sensitization and awareness, and mitigation of GBV case trends.
• With the support of GBV program Officer, design and the follow-up plan for each identified child and actively contribute in case management, collaborating with the other Case Workers and with the Community Support Case Workers to deal directly with the beneficiaries in the targeted areas.

Functions / Day to day activities

• Provide direct, one-on-one and ongoing case management services, including safety. planning.
• Provide direct, one-on-one emotional support to survivors throughout case management.
• Process including final case evaluation and closure.
• Provide referrals to survivors to other services including child protection and specialized mental health services, accompany of survivors where appropriate services have been provided to the survivor
• Identify gaps in referral services and report these gaps to the GBV program Officer for action.
• Liaise with community volunteers for purposes of survivor follow-up as part of case management to individual survivors.
• Complete and maintain case management records to maximize confidentiality, safety and security and non-discrimination.
• Ensure survivor-centered services, including adherence to guiding principles of respect, confidentiality, safety and security and non-discrimination.
• Raise awareness in the WGFSS and community at large about GBV.
• Participate in case review meetings and referral coordination meetings if needed,
• Submit case management reports on a weekly and monthly basis.

Requirements
Profile of the Candidate (Education, Training, Competences, Skills):

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work required and / or Diploma in Education or others relevant field.
• Prior experience (at least 1 year) working in complex emergency context as Case worker.
• Fluency in English.
• Good communicator, strong listening capacity, open minded, proactive and creative.
• Respectful and inclusive of individual and cultural differences.
• Significant experience involving work engaging people in and from community settings.
• Knowledge of the local language (Hausa).

Preferred:

• Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local context.
