Job Description

• The Senior Finance Officer will support the effective supervision of the implementation of general finance functions, Budgets and Controls.
• In addition, the finance officer will support partners to improve financial reporting, capacity and systems.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide support in the process of developing the COP budget and work plans.
• Supervises the process of sourcing and efficient disbursement of funds from donors, managing bank accounts and overseeing money transfers between head offices, state offices, field offices, third parties and program beneficiaries, processing cheques, reviewing payrolls and other payments.
• Supervises the tracking of all expenditures against budget and ensures costs charged to an award are reasonable, allocable and allowable.
• Provide significant oversight in ensuring the timely recording of all accounting transactions in the General Ledger
• Supervising the process related to bookkeeping and maintenance of accounting records that are at all times accurate, substantiated, up-to-date and sufficiently detailed.
• Supervises and supports the preparation of all donor-specific financial reports and management financial reports
• Maintain effective and efficient security, relevancy and applicability of accounting software implementation over financial recordings, classifications and reporting.
• Ensure all relevant Government Acts, Rules, and Regulations like provision of taxation, Filling of Annual returns, withholding tax, Personal Income Tax etc. are followed.
• Foster and ascertain implementation of relevant accounting standards, audit standards and Generally
• Accepted Accounting Practices through an active oversight function
• Ascertain no bridge in the implementation of all Financial and Accounting Policy Manual, Human Resources and Administrative guidelines to the extent applicable to finance & accounting.
• Provide relevant supervision over the implementation of all donors and country-specific internal policy guidelines and coordinate financial reviews and audits.
• Assists in providing financially relevant information to the board during budgeting, accounts to donors and other decision-making activities

Qualifications & Experience

• A Degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting and 7+ years of relevant experience in an accounting role preferably in an International NGO setting.
• Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ANAN) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Fluency in oral and written English and must be versatile with the use of computer and Tally ER.
