Fati Lami Abubakar Institute for Legal and Administration Studies invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Provost

Location: Minna, Niger

Job Description 

• The Provost is the Chief Executive and Academic Head of the Institute.

He Shall among other duties:

• Be Responsible for the Day-to-Day Running of the Institute,
• Promote Research, Teaching and high Standard of Academic Excellence;
• Regulate the Admission of Students, Subject to Guidelines and Procedures as Approved by the Academic Board:
• Be Responsible to Council for the Maintenance of Peace, Law and Order in the Institute
• Be competent at all times to Advise the Council on all Matters Affecting the Institute;
• Be Responsible for the Maintenance of Staff and Student's Welfare and Discipline.

Qualifications and Qualities
Candidates Applying for the Post of Provost are required to Possess the Following Qualifications and Qualities, amongst others:

• A Distinguished Scholar, with a Doctorate Degree (PhD) in any of the following Areas: Education, Arts, Social Science and Law from any Recognized University;
• Membership of Relevant Professional Body/Bodies;
• Proven Exemplary Leadership Qualities that will Command the Respect of Staff and Students;
• Outstanding Moral Character, Probity, Integrity and Accountability;
• Drive a Clear Vision for the Development of the Institute;
• Must be Mentally and Physically fit to Effectively Discharge the Responsibilities of a Provost;
• Must also be good in public relations.

Tenure of Office

• The Provost shall hold Office for a Single Term of Four Years in the first instance and may be re-appointed for a Second Term of Four Years and no more.

Conditions of Service:

• The Provost shall be appointed for a Second Term of Four Years and no more.

• Photocopies of their Academic and Professional Certificates
• Certificate of Birth and/or Declaration of Age
• List of Publications
• Evidence of Work Experience and Position(s) held
• Candidate's Vision and Mission Statement for the Institute, if Appointed Provost (of not more than three pages).
• Names and Address of three Referees; each of the Referees should forward a Sealed Confidential Report of the Applicant directly to the Registrar of the Institute.

• Applicants above the age of Sixty years (60) as at the time of this Advert may not need to apply.
• Those Applying form the University must not be lower than the rank of Senior Lecturer. While those Applying from other Middle Level Tertiary Institutions, i.e., Polytechnic, Monotechnic, College of Education, etc., must not be below the rank of Chief Lecturer.
