Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international, private, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization. Our organization offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. We have been working in Nigeria since February 1996. A Memorandum of Understanding between Médecins Sans Frontieres and the Federal Government of Nigeria facilitates this. We are at present co-operating with the Federal Ministry of Health, State and Local Government departments of health on various health projects.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Medical Data Processing Officer
Location: Talata Mafara, Zamfara
Employment Type: Contract
Job Type: 10 Months Definite Contract (with the possibility of renewal)
Main Objective and Responsibility of the Position
Carrying out medical data collection and entry activities into the mission database recording all relevant clinical and demographic data on patients and ensuring data quality/reliability, according to MSF protocols and maintaining confidentiality while producing the appropriate, updated documents for the medical team in order to support decision making processes.
General Accountabilities
Performing data entry of all epidemiological information into select databases program and creating appropriate reports, providing data for project development purposes.
Ensuring that all data entered has been authorized and that appropriate documentation has been received (patient records, treatment monitoring, etc.). Ensuring that all data entry processes occur in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensuring all data collected and entered to databases is consistently accurate and complete. Being responsible for ensuring that quality control queries of the database are followed up, ensuring identification of data entry errors and corrections. Immediately reporting to the supervisor, any anomalies in the database.
Filing documents according to MSF standards.
Communicating regularly with the HCW’s, assisting in the (re)training when necessary, on proper registration of patients, proper filling of the various forms, clarifying queries, obtaining missing information and correcting errors, ensuring they have ongoing sufficient supplies of necessary hardcopy data collection forms
Assisting in the compilation and preparation of regular reports and providing detailed information to medical and laboratory teams (weekly, monthly, according to patient treatment requirements).
MSF Section / Context-Specific Accountabilities
Performing data entry of all epidemiological information into select databases program and creating appropriate reports, providing data for project development purposes.
Ensuring that all data entered are authorized and appropriate documentation has been received (patient records, treatment monitoring, etc.).
Ensure medical team and health promotion team have the adequate update version of data collection tools for appropriate data collection in the field.
Ensuring that all data entry processes occurs in a timely and efficient manner.
Participate in the search for missing data.
Make regular back-ups of all data processed.
Look after all equipment provided and keep recording area clean and tidy, giving special importance to all patient files.
Report any issue concerning data management to superior.
Elaborate statistical reports when required by the medical team.
Ensure, promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all information registered and keeping data safe and filed appropriately.
Data Collection:
Carry out additional data entry (with medical team and health promotion team) and enter the information requested by the section/field.
Ensure appropriate and timely entering of consumption data and patient data of the specific mobile clinic or other departments.
Together with Epidemiologist / Medical team Leader:
Report the entered data with regular basis and update the missing data and delay of the mobile clinic report to the MTL/ epidemiologist.
Involve in the data collection of any outbreak intervened/supported and if needed with the support of Epidemiologist/MTL.
