Job Brief

• We are seeking for a responsible Safety Officer to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. Your primary role will be advising on measures to minimize hazards and maintain a safe working environment. Vigilance in identifying violations is crucial. Good understanding of general food safety and HACCP food standards. Experience in food preparation is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs and procedures to minimize workplace incidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct risk analysis, on-site evaluations, and report generation.
• Provide workforce training on safety practices and regulations.
• Collaborate with management and employees to create a safety-conscious culture.
• Good understanding of general food safety and HACCP food standards.
• Conduct routine audits of food units and compile detailed reports outlining any deviations and recommending corrective measures as needed.
• Monitor and enforce safety policies and procedures.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
• Maintain records and documentation related to safety programs.
• Undertake routine safety and food safety inspections and follow up on non-compliances discovered.
• Help improve standard of delivery and monitoring records.
• Lead the development of operational Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) culture.
• Development and monitoring of cooperate HSE KPI and targets.
• Monitoring stock in provision stores and help with date receipt identification.
• Enforcing Quality compliance of all food items supplied.
• Ensuring food safety and hygiene compliance from all employees.
• Ensuring all WENL Staff are aware of their responsibilities towards working in a safe manner.
• Monitoring of temperature record and food sample record.
• Ensuring all staff are aware of food poisoning.
• Helping unit managers/ Warehouse manager maintain Food Safety and quality compliance.
• Ensure safety policies and procedures compliance in the unit.
• Joining client food committee on safety inspection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety program management.
• Experience in hazard evaluations, emergency response, and safety inspections.

Remuneration
A competitive salary of N200,000 Monthly.
