Job Title: Statistician-General

Job Description

• We are desirous to engage the services of Statistician-General to coordinate the operation of Katsina State Bureau of Statistics who is to provide accurate and reliable statistical information to support evidence-based decision making and promote sustainable development and prosperity of the state
• The Statistician General shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the State Bureau of Statistics;

Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for statistical activities in Katsina State, in alignment with state statistical priorities and development goals.
• Data Collection: Oversee the design, planning, and implementation of data collection in key sectors of the state economy.
• Data Analysis and Interpretation: Lead the analysis and interpretation of statistical data to generate meaningful insights and trends.
• Statistical Reporting: Prepare and publish regular statistical reports, bulletins, and publications to disseminate statistical information to a wide range of users.
• Data Dissemination: Develop and maintain platforms for the dissemination of statistical information, including websites, databases, and other electronic and print media.
• Other responsibilities includes capacity building, quality assurance, innovation and research analytics skills.

Requirements

• Master's or Doctoral Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in statistical analysis, research, and data management, preferably in a government statistical agency, research institution, or international organization.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical software and data processing tools,
• Knowledge of statistical methodologies, sampling techniques, and survey design principles.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex statistical information to diverse audiences in a clear and understandable manner.
• Leadership and managerial abilities, with experience in leading teams and managing projects.
• Understanding, of socio-economic issues and development challenges relevant to Katsina State.
• Must not be above 60 years of age.

Remuneration
The Salary, allowances and other fringe benefits of the Statistician General is to be at par with that of a Permanent Secretary under the Katsina State Civil Service.
