Job Title: Junior Accounting Officer

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• The Junior Accounting Officer will be responsible for providing financial and accounting support to the senior Accountant. This position involves assisting in various accounting tasks, financial analysis, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, and invoicing.

Key Responsibilities

• Track all business activities with financial implications and file the correspondingsourcedocument.
• Posting journal entries with reference to identified source document for financial statement generations
• Maintaining Account receivables, documents bill and supporting documentations
• Maintaining Account payable ensuring timely payment of invoices, confirming validity of the debt, and ensuring necessary approval to pay is received.
• Maintain and update financial records, and expense reports, using appropriate accounting software and systems.
• Maintain necessary financial schedules.
• Support in monitoring and reconciling financial transactions, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and adherence to accounting principles.
• Comply with the applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and budgets, providing accurate and timely information to support decision-making processes.
• Assist in financial and tax audits, and general ledger preparation.
• Ensure timely filing for tax and other statutory obligations.
• Assist with the end of month/year closure procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Accounting or related fields.
• 1 - 2 years of accounting work experience.
• Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
• Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines adequately.
• Critical thinker with a high proficiency in math.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent report writing, communication and IT skills.
• Competency in Microsoft Office and Accounting software packages.
