A small accounting company is recruiting a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team in the capacity below:

Job Title: Remote Accounting and Administrative Assistant

Job Description

  • As a Remote Accounting and Administrative Assistant. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely and contribute to various accounting, administrative, and financial tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • As a Remote Accounting and Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of bookkeeping, virtual and personal assistant, tax-related, and financial modeling duties.
  • Previous experience in audit or accounting firms, including proficiency with accounting software packages and Caseware, is highly valued. Knowledge of and proficiency with Tax prep software is an asset, but not mandatory.

  • Perfect written and spoken English, this is a mandatory requirement.Ability to speak French is not required, but is a great asset.

  • Great interpersonal skills, and ability to play well with others, and respect for each and every individual on the team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing tax remittance reports,and preparing financial statements.
  • Provide virtual and personal assistant support to the management team, including managing schedules and workflow, arranging meetings, ad-hoc administrative tasks, and handling correspondence. This is a hybrid virtual assistant and accounting role.
  • Assist with ad-hoc tax-related tasks, such as preparing tax returns, gathering tax documents, and liaising with external tax professionals (all under the guidance of a supervisor)
  • Support financial modeling activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial data to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accounting software and other relevant systems.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.
  • 2+ years relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience working in audit or accounting firms is strongly preferred, but not required to be from a Big Four firm.
  • Proficiency with installed and cloud-based accounting software packages (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero and CaseWare) is essential.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create and manipulate complex spreadsheets.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work activities. Ability to follow instructions and solve problems is also required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, while also collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with Taxprep software is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to adapt to new technologies, learn new skills and help out the team and management as required.

Salary & Work Conditions

  • Salary: N300,000 - N350,000 Monthly.
  • Probation period of 6 months, during which this role may be terminated withoutnotice.
  • You will be required to use your own laptop for this role. Upon successful completion of your probation period, a generous one-off laptop allowance will be provided to you in equal monthly installments over the next 6 months. The laptop remains your property, and the allowance will not be clawed back under any circumstances.
  • This is a remote work opportunity with flexible working hours. Flexibility is required for this role. There will be standard weeks where you work all 40 hours, weeks where you have almost nothing to do, and weeks where you may be working overtime to meet a deadline. This is not a strict 9 - 5 role.
  • Specific hours of work will depend on the time zone where more of your team is located, this can be discussed.
