Job Description

• As the Beach Master, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising beach operations, including the loading and unloading of cargo, the movement of vessels, and the management of personnel and equipment.
• Your leadership and expertise will be instrumental in maintaining operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee all beach operations, including the arrival, departure, and berthing of vessels, as well as the loading and unloading of cargo and passengers.
• Liaise with vessel captains, port authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient beach operations, including adherence to schedules and safety protocols.
• Direct and supervise beach crew members, assigning duties, providing training, and ensuring compliance with operational procedures and safety regulations.
• Monitor weather conditions, tidal patterns, and other environmental factors that may impact beach operations, and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
• Inspect beach facilities, equipment, and infrastructure regularly to ensure functionality and safety, coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of beach activities, including vessel movements, cargo handling, personnel assignments, and safety incidents.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, accidents, and other incidents, implementing emergency procedures and coordinating with relevant authorities.
• Stay informed about industry developments, regulations, and best practices related to beach operations, and implement improvements as necessary.

Qualifications

• B.Sc / HND or equivalent; additional training or certification in maritime operations or beach management (preferred).
• Proven experience in beach operations, with a strong understanding of vessel handling, cargo handling, and safety procedures, preferably in the maritime industry.
• Leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team of beach crew members.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Expertise in sourcing for Barges to hire will be an added advantage.
• Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to respond calmly and decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including exposure to sun, wind, and water.
• Proficiency in using communication and navigation equipment, such as radios, GPS systems, and radar.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and respond to emergencies outside of regular hours.
