Job Title: Data Entry Specialist

Location: Fully Remote
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary

  • Data entry jobs involve recording financial transactions, such as what comes into and goes out of a business and maintaining records of them. Data entry jobs often require typing a large amount of information quickly, so candidates need to have good typing accuracy and speed. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
  • This role will be fast paced and constant - working with utility billsin a data entry capacity. Chosen candidates will need to be highlyaccurate, but also be able to work quickly and constantly throughoutthe shift. The position is fully remote, and the shift is 3:00pm to 11:30pmWest African Time (WAT).
  • The most important skills for this role will be 10-key speed andaccuracy, attention to detail and a positive attitude. Candidateswithout much experience but documented high 10-key KPM or WPM will be considered.

Equipment:

  • Windows Computer, dual high-resolution monitors, webcamera, speakers or headphones and microphone, and a 10-key keyboardare required.
  • Contractors will need to provide their own office equipment / setup. MACcomputers will NOT work for this roleand they must have a Windowsmachine. They will not be able to work from a tablet or laptop screen.Dual monitors are required and will aid them in being successful inthe role.
  • This role is based in the U.S and open exclusively to remote workers in Nigeria. Due to remittance laws, salary will be paid in Naira only.

Responsibilities

  • Inputting new information into database systems
  • Creating and managing excel / sheets spreadsheets
  • Controlling data probity by performing comparative analysis of different sources
  • Regularly updating existing database system records
  • Producing reports
  • Retrieving data as requested
  • Performing regular backup and security database activities
  • Documenting, organizing, and storing relevant documents
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or databasesystems using keyboards, data recorders or optical scanners
  • Type in data provided directly from customers
  • Create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents
  • Update existing data
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested
  • Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
  • Sort and organize digital files after entering data to ensure data is not lost

Qualifications

  • Effective communication: Data entry operators need to have excellent written and verbalcommunication skills. This may include liaising with other departmentsor colleagues, or inputting data directly from clients orstakeholders.
  • Organization: Data entry managers need organizational skills to keep track of theirteam's workload, monitor their progress, and ensure they have theresources they need.Data entry clerks should verify all their work for accuracy afterentering it. This helps to maintain a level of quality and reliabilityof information, and also ensures compliance with company standards.
  • Degree (bachelor's preferred)
  • Requires 1-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within aparticular field.
