Job Description

• The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the administration, implementation, and health of the global enterprise network. This position reports to the Technical Manager and requires an intense dedication to high network availability, best practice network architecture, network security, continuous enhancement, high quality of work, personal ownership, and executing to completion in an environment of competing priorities. On-call /after-hours support is required to address critical issues should they arise, and limited end-user engagement may also be required to resolve issues or validate changes to the network.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed documentation of deployments and active engagement with ISP’s and equipment procurement vendors to meet service and project objectives.
• Provide technical expertise on all aspects of network services, such as Wi-Fi, VPN, internet connectivity, and VLAN segmentation, ensuring they are fault-tolerant and highly available.
• Actively propose network enhancements and new technologies to meet technical directives such as redundancy and high availability.
• Lead efforts in defining, tuning, and implementing network standards.
• Apply best practices in Incident, Problem, Change, Patch/release, and Asset Management in the scope of Network Administration
• Strong commitment to network security and best practices
• Respond to networking issues in a coordinated effort with the IT Operations teams to quickly restore services and perform root cause analysis as required.
• Participate in daily network operations activities by responding to MACD request and issues as they arise.
• Create reliable documentation and update existing diagrams to accurately keep track of site topologies.
• Advise, propose, and deploy geo-redundant network architecture.
• Ensure recoverability of network services by implementing backup and archive operations
• Maintain comprehensive network hardware and software configuration database and all supporting documentation for relevant systems.
• Engage directly with external vendors to participate in network equipment procurement, implementation services, and the cost effectiveness of competing solutions.

Required skills:

• Expertise in routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP and switching technologies like VLANs, STP, VTP,EtherChannel and MPLS
• Skilled in utilizing network monitoring tools like Wireshark, Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds to troubleshoot network issues efficiently.
• Skilled with cloud networking concepts such as AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, and Google Cloud Interconnect.
• Understanding of virtualization technologies like VMware, Hype V or KVM. Their impact on network infrastructure.
• Proficiency in project management to oversee and steer network infrastructure projects from start to finish encompassing planning, budgeting and resource management.
• Dedication to learning by keeping up, to date with technologies, industry developments and best practices through self directed learning opportunities training sessions and obtaining certifications.
