Job Description

• The Senior Video Specialist at Sun King will oversee all aspects of video production, from conceptualizing, storyboarding and director’s treatment to final execution & post-production. Our ideal candidate should have extensive production house or agency experience, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for storytelling through visual mediums namely photography, motion graphic design and videography. The specialist should have experience working across the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of the content process.
• At Sun King, our video team work on a range of projects. We operate an internal creative studio model, where design briefs will come in from across the organisation. No two days are the same for our design team. Our video team may work on customer testimonials one day, mini-documentaries on another day, and high-budget TV adverts and commercial photoshoots, the next. We are looking for a versatile moving image specialist. The position holder will manage two members of staff in East and West Africa, who primarily specialise in post-production, who are backstopped by a broader, multidisciplinary creative team. 

What you would be expected to do

• Develop comprehensive storyboards, scripts, and production shot lists to guide the filming and production process. 
• Oversee and manage small-scale video production from conceptualization to execution and post-production within the company. This includes but is not limited to video production, video editing, photography shoots, etc. 
• Tell engaging stories using videos and photos - for corporate films, social posts, documentary-style storytelling, product shots, and more. 
• Capture high-quality footage, edit and enhance raw footage to produce polished, professional-quality videos. 
• With assistance from in-house specialists, create engaging motion graphics and visual effects to complement video content. 
• With assistance from in-house specialists, optimize video and motion graphics for various platforms, including web, social media, and broadcast. 
• Work with external agencies (should the need arise to produce high-quality, engaging video content for the company). Monitor the process to ensure high-quality deliverables and strict adherence to brand guidelines. 
• Mentor team members and provide constructive feedback to foster professional growth.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in video production, preferably in a production house or agency setting.
• Proficiency with industry-standard software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, or equivalent).
• Strong grasp of cinematography concepts, including camera operation, lighting, and composition.
• Deep knowledge of pre-production considerations and how to organize a shoot, with proven experience working with freelancers or agencies.
• Proven ability to work on sets and in the field to develop fantastic raw footage.
• Strong knowledge of the post-production process spanning editing to color grading and file management.
• Excellent storytelling skills, with the ability to translate client goals into compelling visual narratives.
• Detail-oriented approach to project management, with the ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication and social skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
• Portfolio showcasing a diverse range of video and motion graphics projects, demonstrating creativity, technical proficiency, and attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication and social skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
