Job description
Develop structured development programs for all staff national Drilling Engineers to help them achieve their potential.

• Develop a structured development and assessment program for contract national Drilling Engineers to determine their suitability for employment as staff.
• Mentor and train the individuals to ensure a high success rate. Define KPI’s for the individual Drilling Engineers and for the development programs against which to measure progress and success.
• Review external training courses for suitability for the Drilling Engineers to attend.
• If not available in Nigeria to determine whether the trainer can be brought to Nigeria.
• Work with Human Resource Department to align company sponsored training to the development plan of each individual engineer. Follow up with engineers’ wellsite experience and ensure achievement of learning objectives.
• In conjunction with Addax’ service providers develop training seminars covering the main aspects of drilling, completion, evaluation and welltesting operations.
• Prepare training material to educate the Drilling Engineers on rig types and rig equipment.
• Ensure that Drilling Engineers develop personal competencies and do not develop dependencies on the coaching or mentoring relationship.
• Provide one-on-one guidance to the Engineers regarding achieving their technical and operational development objectives and promotion opportunities both in the Lagos office and wellsite.
• Lagos based, either 6 week / 2 week rotation or residential (6 month / 1 month).

Requirements

• Education: Technical / engineering qualification required.
• Minimum of 25 years industry experience having held senior drilling engineering /supervisory positions and experience in training / mentoring.
• Proven record of working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Previous Nigerian / West African experience is advantageous.
• Strong HSE leadership.
• Genuine drive to help others achieve their full potential.
• Mentoring and coaching capabilities with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing effectively in a multi-cultural society and with a genuine drive to help others achieve their full potential.
• Good knowledge and understanding of drilling engineering, well designs, modern drilling techniques and systems.
• Able to work under sustained high workload and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processors and presentation software.

Terms & Conditions

• Competitive day rate, paid overseas by first week of following month, net of Nigerian Income Tax. Travel days paid.
• 12 months, renewable based on performance.
