Expression of Interest for the Provision of Interpretation Services at Catholic Relief Services (CRS)

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international non-governmental organization supporting relief and development work in over 99 countries around the world. CRS programs assist persons on the basis of need, regardless of creed, ethnicity or nationality. CRS works through local church and nonchurch partners to implement its programs, therefore, strengthening and building the capacity of these partner organizations is fundamental to programs in every country in which CRS operates. CRS has worked in Nigeria for more than 25 years.

We request Expressions of Interest (EOI) from consultant(s)/a firm of consultants for:

Title: The Provision of Interpretation Services for the Regional Fortification Alliance (RFA) Coordination Meeting

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Background

• Catholic Relief Services (CRS) with funding from the BMZ through GIZ is implementing a Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) Project in West Africa with the first phase piloted in Burkina Faso as a priority country.
• The second phase which started on November 1, 2023, for a duration of 12 months, seeks to expand and improve food fortification to sustainably contribute to the reduction and prevention of vitamin and mineral deficiencies among women, girls, and vulnerable populations in West Africa.
• The overall project objective is to develop and improve food fortification to sustainably contribute to the reduction and prevention of vitamin and mineral deficiencies among women, girls, and vulnerable populations in West Africa by strengthening public sector capacity for mandatory and effective fortification of key food vehicles (vegetable oil, wheat flour and salt).
• It is with the aim of making this coordination devolved to the regional alliance operational that WAHO is organizing the first coordination meeting, which will be holding in Abuja Nigeria on July 30 to 31, 2024.

Objectives

• The interpretation agency is to provide translation for the entire duration of the coordination meeting into French, English, and Portuguese for participants at the live event and for those attending online.

Specifically, this will include:

• Translate the meeting into French, English, and Portuguese (for online, in-person participants)
• Ensure online video subtitles for the online participants to discuss virtually.

Deliverables 

• To provide 2 Interpreters per language for the simultaneous translation of the meeting into English, French and Portuguese for two days of the workshop.
• Provision translation headphones for in-person 40participants.
• Format: The translation will also be available online via a Zoom link provided by WAHO.

Required Qualifications
CRS seeks expressions of interest from consultant(s)/a firm of consultant with the following skills / qualifications in conducting a similar activity:

Technical Requirements:

• Previous experience conducting a similar task.
• Professional certifications and eligibility to perform services.
• Adequate work plan that details work to be performed and lead time to complete it.
• Excellent networking skills with private and public sector institutions
• Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to conduct discussions with a diversity of people.

Payment Schedule

• Payment will be disbursed as per activity schedules, submission of completed & verifiable report upon completion of agreed deliverables.
• Please note that CRS will deduct and remit to the relevant tax authority a 5% or 10% withholding Tax from the total consultancy fees for individuals or organizations in accordance with the Nigerian Tax Law.
