Lead, Terminal - Eastern Operations at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC)

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Lead, Terminal - Eastern Operations

Location: Nigeria
Department: Operation Engineering

Objectives

• To oversee the smooth operations of the lifting and loading of crude at the terminals in the Eastern Zone, as well as the smooth lifting operations at the Eastern export terminals and ensure that only bonafide NEPL customers lift NEPL equity crude oil.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advice to vessels and fleet management on cargo requirements, tank cleaning, stability, and stress, and maintain all statutory requirements for the vessels.
• Maintain safety standards and procedures as well as management of the environment.
• Implement office policies, standards, and procedures and measure results against standards while making necessary adjustments where needed.
• Provide necessary operational updates by reviewing and analyzing special reports; summarizing information and identifying trends.
• Undertake the daily administration of the Eastern Zone, including the supervision of direct reports at the export terminal.
• Ensure that only duly nominated and confirmed tankers are allowed to load crude oil at terminals.
• Ensure safekeeping of the shipping documents of crude oil loaded by the tankers.
• Analyze and monitor operational data to ensure potential problems are averted and advise on any special requirements.
• Pay regular visits to the terminals to ensure that there are no problems and resolve those that may exist.
• Prepare a comprehensive occasional end-of-year report on activities.
• Check all shipping documents and ensure that all liftings conform with the requirements of both the customers and NNPC.
• Receive and review marketing clearance (loading instruction).
• Prepare loading clearance for terminal operator's use.
• Participate in fiscalization before loading and de-fiscalization after loading.
• After loading, calculate and determine the gross and net quantity of crude loaded and reconcile with the terminal operator and NUPRC representative.
• Prepare tanker sailing advice within 24 hours after loading for transmission to the Deputy Manager, Shipping and Terminal Operations.
• Record details of loadings.
• Collect/prepare weekly, monthly, and end-of-year reports (operational), as required.
• Ensure safe custody of the bland shipping documents.
• Attend stock report and review meetings.
• Provide timely and regular reports on the activities of the Unit to the Deputy Manager, Shipping and Terminal Operations.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Engineering, Geosciences, Physical Sciences, etc.
• Membership of a Professional Body e.g., NAPE, NMGS, COMEG, AAPG, SPE, etc.
• Experience in the oil and gas industry and in a similar functional area is an added advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum of 9 years relevant post-qualification experience.
• Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.

• Skilled at Sales & Marketing.
• Skilled in the Oil & Gas Industry.
• Knowledge in Market Place Analysis.
• Knowledge in Business Process Acumen.
• Skilled at Planning & Budgeting.
