Job Title: Product Designer (UI & UX)

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

• As a pivotal member of the product and development team, you will conduct research and design work to meet ours and customers.
• In a typical week, you will participate in meeting with your team, plan or conduct discovery work on new concepts, and create and deliver final wireframe designs for production.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts across key product areas, collaborating closely with the CTO and CEO to guide product strategy, plan and execute designs, and prioritise design tasks.
• Facilitate workshops, rapidly ideate and prototype, produce detailed design deliverables, and work alongside product managers, developers, and QAs to implement designs into production.
• Ensure the product you design fulfils user needs, aligns with broader product and business objectives, and is compatible with task front-end and back-end technologies.
• Advocate for users throughout the design process and develop a deep understanding of user needs through interviews and other research methods.
• Communicate insights with your team and foster empathy for users across the organisation.
• Conceptualise designs for new products and projects, guiding them from discovery to implementation.
• Lead efforts to create consistency and coherence in all new projects the company is launching.
• Proactively enhance how the team functions by exploring new tools and design processes and sharing them with other members of the product and technology teams.

Required Experience & Skills

• A minimum of five years of design experience with a broad design skill set, including strong user experience skills and an excellent understanding of user interface design.
• A robust portfolio showcasing experience leading and creating UX for shipped products and services (including mobile apps) that fulfil user needs, product requirements, and business objectives.
• Hands-on experience in planning, conducting, and analysing user research and usability testing.
• Experience working with design systems or developing a common design language to unify the user experience across products.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to produce high-fidelity designs and prototypes using tools such as Figma, Sketch, and InVision.
• An understanding of how design integrates into an agile environment and the ability to work closely with product managers, developers, and QAs.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and articulate the rationale behind designs to a diverse group of stakeholders.
• A motivated, proactive, flexible, pragmatic, and well-organised individual with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
• A practical understanding of how to create real-world designs given time and technical constraints.

Experience:

• UI design: 5 years (preferred)
• UX: 5 years (preferred)

Desirable Experience & Skills:

• Knowledge of home remodelling and design / or e-commerce
• Experience working in-house in a startup organisation.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Lagos, Ikeja: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).

Salary
N250,000 - N500,000 per month.
