Job Summary

• We are seeking a skilled and experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist to join our team.
• The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data to support various projects and initiatives.
• The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of GIS principles, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a diverse audience. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
• Collect, compile, and analyze spatial data from various sources, including satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and field surveys.
• Create and update maps, charts, and other visualizations to effectively communicate spatial information to stakeholders.
• Perform spatial analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships in data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS into project planning, decision-making, and problem-solving processes.
• Conduct quality control and quality assurance checks on GIS data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Provide technical support and training to staff members on GIS software, tools, and techniques.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in GIS technology and explore potential applications for improved data management and analysis.
• Assist in the development and implementation of GIS policies, procedures, and standards.
• Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other deliverables related to GIS projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with GIS software and spatial data analysis.
• Experience with database management and data manipulation.
• Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python or R, is a plus.
• Familiarity with web mapping technologies, such as ArcGIS Online or Leaflet, is desirable.
• Certification in GIS, such as Esri Technical Certification, is advantageous

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS, ǪGIS, or MapInfo.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret spatial data.
• Knowledge of geospatial data formats, coordinate systems, and projections.
• Familiarity with remote sensing techniques and image processing software.
• Proficiency in data management and database design principles.
• Excellent cartographic skills with the ability to create visually appealing maps and visualizations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and interpretation.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
