Job Title: Electrical Switchyard Operator / Maintenance Technician

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Description

• The Electrical Switchyard Operator/Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical switchyard equipment, ensuring reliable power transmission and distribution.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor switchyard equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, motors and relays.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, inspecting, and testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in switchyard equipment, using technical manuals and diagrams.
• Collaborate with other teams to coordinate maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Maintain accurate records of switchyard operations, maintenance activities, and repairs.
• Assist in training new operators and sharing knowledge to improve team performance.

Requirements

• 2 - 5 years of experience in electrical switchyard operations or maintenance.
• Strong understanding of electrical theory, switchyard equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of electrical control systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a fast-paced industrial environment with exposure to electrical hazards, heights, and confined spaces.
• Wear PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, and electrical insulating gear.
