Public Relation Specialist at a Leading Independent Upstream Oil & Gas Company

We are a leading independent upstream Oil & Gas Company in Nigeria with active operatorship of prolific blocks. Based on our current expansion and development programs, we are seeking to engage experienced, intelligent and resourceful candidates in the capacity below:

Job Title: Public Relation Specialist

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

• The ideal candidates will assist in the planning, negotiating, supervising and implementing development projects and programmes in company host communities as well as provide health and mutually beneficial relationships with relevant host and neighbouring communities.
• Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with members of Company host and neighbouring communities
• Ensure Community Relations practices and policies are followed and promoted.
• Monitor and implement Early Warning Systems and community surveillance system for proactive intervention
• Liaise with host and neighbouring community to ensure healthy relationship with host communities, smooth operation and activities within host communities
• Monitor and ensure Community assisted projects are timely executed and within budget
• Timely secure FTOS from host communities and provide timely intervention as well as anti-conflict actions for seamless operations
• Hold targeted and periodic meetings with the CLOS, Community Chiefs. relevant government agencies to ensure Company's facilities are fully secured and seamless operations are sustained within host and neighbouring communities
• Prepare acceptable community development plans and strategy
• Ensure all advice and recommendations are based on sound research and analysis and are provided to management in a professional and timely way.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess an HND / B.Sc / BA in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or related discipline. A Master's degree or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years relevant and rounded experience in Community relations, public participation principles and practices in Oil & Gas Industry of which 5 years must be in an E&P company.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships
• Ability to evaluate cost of a program and compare it to the benefits for the organization
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work extremely well as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Must be available to travel to any part of the Country at short notice
• Must have ability to manage stress and meet critical deadlines, build and maintain strong relationships, as well as manage restive and agitated groups
• He must have rounded experience in community engagement, negotiation and issues management in an Oil & Gas Industry.
