Metwest Steel Limited was founded in the year 2008. Since then, we have emerged as a manufacturer and distributor of premium steel and non-ferrous products in West Africa. Our product portfolio includes steel billets, rebars, sections, wires, fasteners as well as aluminum, copper and lead ingots and more.We are a fully integrated scrap-based manufacturing unit located in Asaba, Delta State. Our strategic location close to Onitsha, the biggest steel market in Nigeria, give us access to raw materials, markets, people and ports. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HSE Officer

Location: Asaba, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Collect all HSE information (Inspection and incident report, anomalies, audits, walkthroughs, Management visits, etc.) from the Project Site.
• Prepare monthly HSE statistical report.
• Follow up on all HSE actions entered until they are closed out.
• Issue reminder to personnel on action(s).
• Generate statistical analysis to ensure adequate prevention of incidents.
• Maintain a file of all HSE reports and actions (Audit, Inspection, Incidents, and anomaly).
• Maintain Site Health, Safety, and Environmental records and organize and participate in audits to ensure the effective implementation of HSE rules on site.
• Participates actively in all HSE Committee meetings, site planning, and coordination meetings.
• Participate in preparing works and operations, checking that comprehensive incident mitigation measures are enforced.
• Participate in site environmental audits, and monitor, follow up, and assess any agreed corrective recommendations and ensure their implementation.
• Participates actively in all HSE Committee meetings, planning and coordination meetings as well as contributing to defining ways and means to identify/minimize risks and the impact of activities.
• Participate in investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, anomalies, incidents, training, and other HSE-related activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental, Geological or Sciences, Occupational Health
• Min. 3 years of professional experience
• Min. 3 years of project experience within the Construction industry
• Industrial construction field experience with in-depth HSE fieldwork
