Role Overview

• We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Product Manager to join our founding team. We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Senior Product Manager. Ideally, we want someone with previous startup and enterprise who has experience in all phases of Product Management.
• Africa is the world's youngest continent and expanding the fastest. The number of young people working in Africa will rise to 375 million by 2030.
• The International Monetary Fund estimates that by 2035, there will be more young Africans joining the workforce each year than there are in the rest of the world put together due to population growth on the continent.
• The number of young individuals looking for work is much higher than the number of opportunities that are open to them. The skills of young people entering the workforce and the needs of companies are also out of sync.
• Many young people will have trouble finding employment to better their living conditions if nothing is done.
• We have spent the last six months investigating the finest methods for creating the talent workflow system that will assist in matching African talents with opportunities. Currently, at the stage of executing the prototype system, business processes while some aspect is live in production to start generating revenue and Marketing.
• We'll close the skills gap and provide African talent greater job chances.
• The founders are individuals with top academic background, professional experience in leading companies at leadership positions & strong technical background.
• The aim of the company is to become a “unicorn” (one-billion-dollar valuation) in the next 3-5 years as the product-market is considerably validated.

• The individuals who will be hired at this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at execution stage.
• The person will be working fully remotely on a part-time basis while continuing their current job until we begin generating revenue and secure funding.
• We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Senior Product Manager. Ideally, this is a growing startup, there is no salary until we can start generating revenue and funding. Founder is open to team members having a main job until funding and revenue is secured.

Responsibilities

• Define and articulate the product vision and strategy aligned with the company's overall business goals
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats
• Develop and manage a product roadmap that addresses market needs and supports the company's strategic objectives
• Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and development to launch and post-launch activities
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across Engineering, Design, Marketing, Growth, Operations and customer support teams to ensure seamless product development and delivery
• Ensure product development processes are efficient and effective, incorporating best practices in agile methodologies
• Drive cross-functional team alignment and effective communication throughout the product development process
• Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points through direct interaction, surveys, and analysis
• Ensure that customer feedback is integrated into the product development process
• Drive customer-centric innovation to enhance user experience and satisfaction
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and impact
• Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to iterate and improve
• Report on product metrics and progress to the management and stakeholders
• Develop and manage the product development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
• Identify and mitigate risks related to product development and launch

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• 10 years’ work experience with progressive growth from operations to product leadership or within the product management vertical preferably at a logistics, enterprise, SaaS or ecommerce startup
• Demonstrated expertise in data-driven end-to-end product development, a strong product craft and a technical background, with previous experience building and setting vision for platform products
• Resourceful and innovative to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges
• Analytical, data-driven and with strong business acumen
• Entrepreneurial spirit and a self-starter who owns responsibility for the risks and rewards of running an innovative sustainable operation
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities
• Proficiency in product management tools and methodologies
• Strong understanding of technology trends and the ability to translate them into viable product solutions that can scale multiple markets
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for creating exceptional user experiences
• Proven track record of successfully launching and managing products in a fast-paced environment
