Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Description

• The Head of Accounts is responsible for overseeing the accounting department and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting.
• This role involves leading the financial operations of the organization, developing financial strategies, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and providing leadership to the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:

• Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the efficiency of financial operations.

Team Leadership:

• Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, ensuring the team’s professional development and performance.
• Assign and monitor the work of team members, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is maintained.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the department.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Lead the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of budgets and financial projections.
• Monitor budgets throughout the year and provide variance analysis and recommendations.
• Assist in strategic planning and decision-making through financial analysis and forecasting.

Audit and Compliance:

• Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Review and ensure accurate and timely filing of statutory returns and tax reports.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring the company’s financial practices are compliant.

Cash Flow Management:

• Oversee cash flow planning and management to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
• Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and other external stakeholders.
• Ensure efficient use of financial resources, including monitoring accounts receivable and payable.

Financial Analysis and Strategy:

• Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and improve profitability.
• Work with senior management to develop financial strategies aligned with business goals.
• Identify areas of financial risk and opportunities for cost savings.

System Implementation:

• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
• Ensure the accuracy and security of financial data through proper system controls.

Other Duties:

• Perform other related duties as required by the CFO or management.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Professional accounting certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior management role.
• Experience in managing a team and working in a corporate environment.
• Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience in dealing with audits, tax filings, and compliance.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office (especially Excel).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with different departments.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
