Job Description
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and executing payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments, compliance with relevant laws, and maintaining employee payroll records.
The role requires a deep understanding of payroll regulations, attention to detail, and proficiency in payroll software systems.
The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with HR and finance departments to ensure that all payroll-related tasks are completed efficiently.
Responsibilities
Payroll Processing:
Process payroll for employees accurately and on time, including calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations.
Maintain accurate payroll records and update employee information in payroll systems.
Compliance and Reporting:
Prepare and file payroll tax returns and reports in compliance with government regulations.
Ensure payroll taxes, deductions, and contributions are correctly withheld and paid.
Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations and implement necessary updates to payroll processes.
Employee Support:
Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing prompt and accurate information.
Resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure employees are paid correctly.
Educate employees on payroll policies, benefits, and deductions.
Payroll Audits:
Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies in collaboration with the finance team.
System Management:
Manage and optimize payroll systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning efficiently.
Collaborate with IT and software vendors to troubleshoot and improve payroll software performance.
Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing.
Experience with payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks).
Skills:
Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
