Grassroots Lifesaving Outreach (LESGO) is an impartial, neutral and independent Non-Governmental Organization whose mission exclusively established to promote life in underserved communities through empowering communities to know and protect lives including their environment towards ensuring safe habitation through participatory methodology. Established in Grassroots Lifesaving Outreach was established in 2010 but was incorporated in the year 2011 with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). LESGO exists to partner with government and relevant agencies to promote and strengthen humanitarian law and a universal principle that seeks to honor the dignity of mankind with support and believe that Life is worth living and living well.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: MHPSS Officer

Location: Madagali / Yola South, Adamawa

Duration: 3 months

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MHPSS Officer to join our team.
• The successful candidate will be responsiblefor providing psycho-social supportservices to at-risk women and girls and survivors of GBV.

Responsibilities

• Working in close collaboration with health workers and volunteers on this project and on similar others being implemented by LESGO
• Assessing the psychosocial needs of the participants by identifying, documenting, and analysing the client’ needs.
• Respond to the identified needs by providing direct PSS.
• Familiarize with existing pathways or where necessary develop a system for referral of cases needing further support or other services.
• Provide tailored PSS support at the individual, family and community levels.
• Conduct specific psychosocial group activities, adapted and appropriate to group’s specific needs and capacities.
• Ensure weekly planning of activities and movements in the field in coordination with the project management team.
• Demonstrate ethical and professional practice including respect of client’s confidentiality and point of view and reporting any incidents or acts that may cause any harm to client or others.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards, policies, and guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in MHPSS programming, preferably in humanitarian contexts.
• Strong knowledge of MHPSS principles, theories, and practices.
• Experience in designing and implementing MHPSS interventions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community engagement skills.
• Ability to work in challenging environments and under pressure.
• Fluency in English, Hausa and local llanguages.
