Rector at the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe

Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe is located on the Bank of the River NUN in Southern Ijaw Local Government area of Bayelsa State. The Polytechnic has a mandate to produce middle and high level manpower in Aqua Agriculture Engineering, Applied/Environmental Science, Oil and Gas.

Job Description

• The Rector is the Chief Executive Officer of the Polytechnic.
• He is responsible to the Governing Council as provided for in the Polytechnic Act.
• The Rector is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Academic, Administrative and Financial affairs of the institution.
• The Rector must be able to meet and surmount the challenges of management and leadership in a riverine environment.
• The Rector must develop the institution to meet the technological demand of the society and environment.

Qualifications
Interested candidates for the post are expected to possess the following qualifications and personal qualities:

• Must have at least a Master's Degree in Engineering and from any of the disciplines being offered in the Polytechnic, with a minimum of 15 years teaching experience in a higher institution.
• Must beat least a Chief Lecturer or its equivalent in a higher institution
• Must be proficient in ICT.
• Must not be more than 60 years old and must enjoy good physical and marital health.
• Must provide evidence of membership of academic/professional bodies.
• Must provide evidence of strong academic, administrative and visionary leadership and be effective in policy formulation.
• The candidate must be fair-minded and devoid of racial, ethnic, political, religious and sectional interests.
• Must be able to attract research funds and development grants from local and international agencies.

Terms of Appointment

• The Rector shall be appointed for an initial period of Four (4) years.
• The position a renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
• The Rector enjoys a consolidated salary approved by the Federal Government.
