Assistant Director, Finance at the Insurance Institute of Nigeria (IIN)

The Insurance Institute of Nigeria (IIN) commenced operation in 1957, it was granted Charter status under the provision of Act No. 22 on 26th February, 1993. Under the Charter, the Institute (Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria) has been given the legal power of determining the standard of knowledge and skill to be attained by persons seeking to become registered member of the Insurance Profession.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Assistant Director, Finance

Location: Lagos

Descriptions

• The Assistant Director, Finance shall have vision, proven managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life.
• Candidate should be between the age bracket of 35-45 and should demonstrate concern for order quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the Director-General of the Institute.
• Prepares all financial reports including Income Statement, Balance Sheets, Tax Returns, etc.
• Conducts a General Financial Analysis of the reports, obtained from the various directorates
• Ensures respect of financial procedures and guidelines.
• Demonstrates knowledge of management and sound financial practices
• Shall produce monthly, quarterly and annual summaries showing activities commitments, disbursements and projections.
• Ability to create and monitor budgets. Understanding of the basic tenets of cash control, asset management and bank reconciliation.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Director-General.

Job Requirements

• Must have a Degree (Minimum of Second Class, Lower Division) from a recognized University in Accounting.
• Must possess the final Certificate of any of the following Professional Accounting Bodies; ICAN, ACCA, etc with minimum of ten (10) years relevant post qualification experience on tbe job.
• Strong organizational and work prioritization skills, attention to details.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent understanding of e-Transaction Accounting Procedure.
• Must be Computer Savvy with excellent hands-on experience in Peachtree Accounting system

Condition of Service

• The Conditions of Service are attractive and can compare favourably with what obtains in any similar institute in the country.
• The successful candidates who qualify for pensionable appointment will be on probation for Six (6) months after which the appointment may be confirmed to a retiring age, provided the performance of such person is considered satisfactory by the Governing Council.
