Hobark International Limited (HIL) is the parent company of the Hobark group operating in the oil and gas industry. The company was incorporated in 1998, starting as a staffing agency based in Port Harcourt. Currently we have offices in 4 countries with our head office in Lagos.

Job Title: Community Relations Specialist

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job Type: Permanent/Full time

Job Description

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local community leaders, residents, government representatives, and other stakeholders to foster open communication and collaboration.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and the community, ensuring that information about the company’s operations, policies, and projects is effectively communicated.
• Develop and implement CSR programs that align with both company objectives and community needs, such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
• Act as part of the crisis response team, ensuring that any incidents or emergencies involving the community are managed effectively and that communication remains clear and transparent during the crisis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public Relations, Mass Communications or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in community relations, public relations preferably within an upstream oil & gas company.
• Proven experience in managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including community leaders, local government, regulatory agencies, etc.
• Strong understanding of local cultures, traditions, and social dynamics within the upstream oil & gas region in Nigeria, and the ability to navigate sensitive issues with diplomacy.
• Ability to plan, implement, and manage CSR projects and community engagement activities, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
